How I work
Therapies I offer
Different problems respond to different approaches, and most people do best with a blend of them. Here is what I am trained in, what each one is for, and how we decide together which to use.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
The therapy most of my work is built on: mapping the loop between what you think, what you feel and what you do, then changing it a step at a time. NICE-recommended for anxiety, OCD and depression.
EMDR
A structured trauma therapy that works on the memory itself rather than on talking it through — so a past event stops firing as though it were still happening.
Inference-based CBT (I-CBT)
A newer OCD treatment that works on the reasoning that makes an obsessional doubt feel credible in the first place — an alternative for people who can't get on with exposure work, or for whom it hasn't held.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Less about arguing with difficult thoughts and feelings, more about loosening their grip so you can get on with what actually matters to you.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
A way of working with the different, often conflicting parts of you — the critic, the perfectionist, the part that shuts down — with curiosity rather than a fight.
Not sure which would suit you?
You don't need to pick one. Tell Gisela what's going on and she'll recommend the approach — or the combination — that fits.
